Method to dive deeper into passages of scripture to see what God has to say to me. When it comes to studying and applying the Word of God to my life, I like to use the S.O.A.P. This is what studying the scriptures is all about – learning and understanding what God has spoken. As you study the verses, you will begin to learn what God has to say about Himself, His people, and you. When you read the scriptures new lessons, truths, and principles may stand out or catch your eye.

Before you can apply biblical principles and truths to your life, you must first learn what the bible says biblical principles are.īiblical principles are standards that God has given us to live by in order to have an abundant life here on earth. But many of us question, “how do I actually apply the scriptures to my life?” If you have ever said this, the S.O.A.P. We are told to read our bibles, memorize scripture, live like Jesus, and more. If any of you lack wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.One of the most important parts of a Christian’s journey is learning how to practically apply God’s Word to everyday life. It truly is easy to glean from His word when you spend time in it and ask Him to reveal truth to you.

Lord, I ask that you would help me and give me the grace to make you my first in every aspect of my life. Believing that He will take care of the things that stress me out. Learning to let go of things and making God number one. Those need to be our “firsts.” When we make God our first we don’t need to worry because He takes care of us. He wants His Kingdom (All the things He does and reigns in) and His righteousness which makes me think of His personhood. God wants Himself to be “first” in our life. One of those things is the word “first.” It really hits me hard.

One of the reasons I love the SOAP method is because it slows you down and lets you concentrate on just one or two verses at a time.Īnd another great thing is that you don’t need lots of resources or tools to do the study. There are countless times we read through the Word so quickly, that we miss out on what God is really wanting to teach and reveal to us.
And because it’s so simple it can be taught to older kids and teens. It’s an easy, quick, and effective way to dive deeper into scripture. There is a good reason why it is so popular with people.
